Week 6:Getting Out of Debt and Keeping Out of Debt

Today’s Easy Task:  Break the habit of complaining

How to rock this task:

  • Try creating a gratitude list
  • Try complimenting, recognizing, praising the good deeds of God and others
  • Try focusing on successes instead of failures
  • Try forgiving individuals and circumstance that hurts us
  • Try to stop complaining and take steps to change what we can
  • Try appreciating the things we have
  • Try breaking attachment to things and putting our focus on fulfilling the purpose God has for us

Today's Devotional:

We’ve made it to day 39!

I’m so excited that we are taking steps that’ll help us get and keep out of debt! Today we are focusing on contentment. It starts with constant communication with God. Constant communication with God truly helps us break the habit of complaining.

If we express gratitude by writing down all the things we are grateful for and add to the list daily, it will help us break the habit of complaining. If we compliment, recognize and praise all the good deeds shown to us by God and others throughout the day, it will help us break the habit of complaining. If we focus on our successes instead of failures, it will help us break the habit of complaining. If we forgive individuals and circumstance that hurts us, it will help us break the habit of complaining. If we stop complaining and take steps to change what we can, it will help us break the habit of complaining. If we appreciate the things we have, it will help us break the habit of complaining. It’s important for us to break attachment to things and put our focus on fulfilling the purpose God has for us. Yes, living on little can be challenging, but it will prevent us from experiencing the slavery of debt.

When we experience suffering it can bring clarity to life if we have the right perspective, because the right perspective leads to hope (Roman 5:3-4). We need to be ready when life challenges us. That’s when the emergency fund comes in handy. It’s important for us to have a buffer to cover unexpected expenses when life happens. Putting aside extra money each month would help cover these situations.

Remember that get rich quick schemes should be avoided and we should be thankful whatever God gives us. Make sure we use it up, wear it out and make it last whether we have a little or a lot. We shouldn’t focus on what we don’t have instead let us give thanks for what we do have. No matter our circumstances let us always keep an attitude of gratitude. 1 Thessalonians 4:11 says we must be content with what we have and seek God’s presence daily to be blessed. Be in constant communication with God and as we seek better livelihood make sure it lines up with God’s purpose for our lives.

It’s amazing how getting more things really doesn’t satisfy (Proverbs 27:20). So we need to be like Paul when he was in prison. He was content with a little or a lot (Philippians 4:11-13).

Today’s Prayer:

God, You our hope. You are our joy. You are everything we need. Let Your will be done on earth as it in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Help us to express gratitude by writing down all the things we are grateful for and add to the list daily. Help us to compliment, recognize and praise all the good deeds shown to us by You and others throughout the day. Help us to focus on our successes today instead of failures. Help us to forgive individuals and circumstance that hurts us. Help us to stop complaining and take steps to change what we can. Help us to appreciate the things we have. Help us to break attachment to things and put our focus on fulfilling the purpose You have for us. Help us to break free from the slavery of debt. Forgive our trespasses, debt, and sins. Help us to know Your Word so we can resist temptation and evil. Thank You for keeping Your angel charge over us. Thank You for keeping us safe in all our ways. Let Your name be glorified forever. In Jesus Name, Amen.
