Detox The Home
Jan 21, 2023Today’s Task Reading:
Toxins are substances that don’t belong in our home. It’s terrible for our environment and us. Our easy task for today is deciding what three things we can start today to improve our home environment. Below are things we can do to detox our home.
- Let us avoid air fresheners and use essential oils and diffusers instead
- Let us purchase BPA free products or products in glass containers
- Let us test home for lead and asbestos
- Let us have natural untreated cotton/ wool carpeting, hardwood/ ceramic tile, or organic
- mats on top of treated carpet especially if we have crawling babies
- Let us use stainless steel, glass, porcelain-coated, cast iron cookware for cooking
- Let us use brands such as Better Life, Earth Friendly, Honest, Seventh Generation for soap or make our soap
- Let us control dust by often vacuuming, sealing cracks, dusting with microfiber material, leaving shoes at the door, and replacing air filters often
- Let us use brands such as BioShield, Ecover, Seventh Generation, Shaklee for cleaning solution or make our cleaning solution
- Let us use Biokleen Laundry Liquid, Ecover ZERO Laundry Liquid Concentrate, GrabGreen Delicate Laundry Detergent Pods, Green Shield Organic Laundry Detergent, Planet 2x Ultra Laundry Detergent, Sun & Earth for laundry Detergent
- Let us store and serve with material made from glass, bamboo or stainless steel
- Let us get dehumidifier if we have moisture issues in our home; it’ll keep the mold spores and dust mites from forming
- Let us have PEVA vinyl shower curtain, hemp-based shower curtains
- Let us quit smoking or avoid smoking inside the home or car
- Let us get unbleached, chlorine-free toilet paper
- Let us get a water filter that filters out fluoride in tap water
Moreover, we can also detox our home spiritually. First, we should de-clutter. We should get rid of anything that makes us feel uncomfortable. We should get rid of anything that we don’t like, makes us feel inadequate, and is unhealthy for us. Next, we should check ourselves by asking we are practicing unhealthy habits in our home? Are we complaining and arguing in our home? Are we holding on the resentment/unforgiveness in our home? Are we hiding sins, bad habits in our home? If we are doing any of the things mentioned above, we should know that these things are very toxic to our home environment/life. To combat unhealthy addictions, we should submit ourselves to God and resist the devil by dying to our selfish desires daily so Christ can be glorified in our lives (James 4:7-10). To combat a complaining argumentative attitude, we should keep an optimistic, joyful spirit because it heals and restores (Proverbs 17:22). To combat resentment, we should let it go, forgive others just as Christ forgave us (Ephesians 4:31- 32). To fight hidden sins, we should opening confess our sins to receive healing because prayers of faith works (James 5:16). Practicing these things will help us have a healthy home environment.
Moreover, we should pray through our house, pouring anointed oil (Genesis 28:18, Exodus 40:9). Asking Jesus to be the foundation of the home (1 Corinthians 3:10-11) and declaring everything and everyone in our homes to serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15). Cast out all unclean spirits (Matthew 10:1), pray for the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and protection (Psalm 91:11).
Today’s Prayer:
God, You reign forever and ever in the heavens and on earth. We are so thankful for You. You deserve all the glory, honor, and praise. Let Your kingdom come and will be done in our lives. Help us to make the environment around us better. Help us to serve You with a joyful heart. Help us detox our home physically and spiritually. We want to let go of anything that is preventing us from developing the fruit of the Spirit every day of our lives. Give us knowledge, wisdom and understanding; we need to cleanse our home, spirit, body, brain, lymphatic system, and skin. Help us to take the necessary steps for everyone in our household to serve the Lord. We ask You to forgive us for all our debts, trespasses, and sins as we forgive our debtors and those who have trespassed and sinned against us. Lead us not into temptation. Help us to be equipped with the full armor of God as You deliver us from evil. For Yours is the Kingdom, Power, and Glory. In Jesus Name, I pray. Amen.
